Terms & conditions
The rules of your booking, written to actually be read.
Last updated: 25 August 2026
1. Who we are
Ad Astra Tours organises and sells excursions and experiences on the island of Boa Vista, Cape Verde.
- Address: Sal Rei, Boavista, Capo Verde
- Email: info@adastratourscv.com
- Phone and WhatsApp: +238 989 8490
These terms govern the booking and purchase of our experiences, whether through this website or by phone, WhatsApp or email. By booking, you confirm that you have read and accepted them.
2. The experiences
Each experience page states its duration, meeting point, what is and is not included, and the maximum group size. What the page says at the time you book is what applies.
Our activities take place outdoors, in a natural environment. Descriptions and photographs show the typical experience, not a guaranteed outcome: wildlife, sky clarity, sea conditions and visibility depend on nature, and nobody can promise them.
3. How to book
You can book through the form on this website, or arrange it with us by email or WhatsApp. Once we receive your request we check availability for your date and confirm the booking, the meeting point and the time.
The contract is formed when we confirm, not when you submit the form: until then neither side is committed.
The details you give us must be accurate. A wrong phone number or a mis-stated accommodation is, in our experience, the single most common reason a pickup fails.
4. Prices and currency
Unless stated otherwise, prices are per person and cover what is listed under «what is included» on the experience page. Reduced children's rates, where they apply, are shown on the page.
Prices are displayed in euros. The charge is made in Cape Verdean escudos (CVE): the amount is converted at the rate applied at the moment of payment, and that is the figure that appears on your receipt.
If your card is issued in another currency, your own bank may apply its own conversion and fees. Those are your bank's costs, not ours, and we have no way of knowing them in advance.
5. Payment
Where the booking involves online payment, the full amount is paid at the time of booking, by card, through the Cape Verdean SISP / Vinti4 network, which also accepts Visa and Mastercard.
Payment happens on a secure page belonging to that network: your card details never pass through our systems. We do not see them and we do not store them.
If the payment does not go through, the booking lapses and the places are released for other guests. This is not a penalty: you can simply book again.
Where online payment is not offered, the arrangements — payment on the day, for instance — are set out in the confirmation we send you.
6. If you cancel
- More than 7 days before: full refund, no charge.
- Between 7 and 2 days before: 50% of the amount paid is refunded.
- Less than 48 hours before, or no-show: no refund.
To cancel or move a booking, write to info@adastratourscv.com or message us on WhatsApp. The time we receive your message, Cape Verde time, is what counts.
Refunds are made by the same means used for payment, within 14 days of our confirmation. How quickly your bank then shows it on your account is not up to us.
7. If we cancel
We may cancel or postpone an experience because of unsafe weather or sea conditions, because a minimum group size has not been reached, because of vehicle failure, or for reasons of force majeure.
For weather-dependent activities we let you know by 4pm on the day. In all these cases you may choose between a new date and a full refund.
Nothing further is owed beyond that: in particular we do not refund flights, accommodation, transfers or other costs you have arranged yourself. That is why we recommend travel insurance (section 10).
8. Meeting point, lateness and no-shows
Please be at the meeting point at the time given in your confirmation. Where pickup from your accommodation is included, we wait up to 10 minutes beyond the agreed time: after that the group leaves, because one person's delay becomes everyone's spoiled tour.
Lateness that causes you to miss the departure counts as a no-show and carries no refund. Call us straight away anyway: where there is a way to fix it — catching up with the group, moving to another date — we will look for it.
9. Who can take part
Our experiences take place outdoors and require a basic level of mobility.
If you have a health condition, are pregnant, have reduced mobility, or follow treatment that can be affected by heat, sun or physical effort, tell us before you book. Many experiences can be adapted, but only if we know in time: this is information that serves your safety, not a filter to exclude you.
Minors may take part only when accompanied by a responsible adult, who is answerable for them. Any age limits are shown on the experience page.
The guide may exclude from the activity, with no refund, anyone who arrives under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or who behaves dangerously towards themselves or others. That decision concerns the safety of the group and rests with the guide, on the spot.
10. Liability and insurance
By taking part you accept the risks inherent in an outdoor activity in a natural environment, and you undertake to follow the guide's instructions.
We are liable for harm caused by our own fault in organising and running the experience. We are not liable for personal belongings lost or damaged, for consequences arising from inaccurate information you gave us or from a failure to follow instructions, nor for events beyond our control.
We recommend travelling with travel insurance covering cancellation, medical expenses and accidents. The basic participant cover listed among our inclusions is not a substitute for a personal policy.
11. Photographs
We take photographs during the experience and give them to you afterwards: they are part of what you are buying.
We may use some of those images on our own channels. If you would rather not appear, just tell the guide — out loud is enough, even once the experience has started. No formality is needed and nothing about your experience changes.
12. If something goes wrong
Tell the guide there and then. Almost everything can be put right on the spot, while we are still together and can do something about it.
If the problem remains, write to info@adastratourscv.com describing what happened and attaching your booking confirmation: we reply within 5 working days.
13. Governing law
This relationship is governed by the law of the Republic of Cape Verde, and the courts of Boa Vista have jurisdiction over any dispute.
The mandatory consumer protections granted to you by the law of your country of residence remain unaffected: this clause does not take them away.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your booking is the one published at the time you made it, not a later one. The date of the last update is at the top of this page.
